Cost Of Full Frame Window Installation

The cost of full frame window installation is $150 to $250 per opening. With a full frame replacement, everything needs to be removed; the stops, sills and jambs until you are left with the rough opening. For additional pricing, try our wood window cost calculator.

The Process Of Pocket Installation

Once the installer has removed the old unit and taken out the damaged or rotten wood and is left with the rough opening, they can then rebuild the window frame with new jambs that will support the replacement unit. Full frame replacements typically include a nailing fin or flange that makes it easier to secure the replacement with nails at several points on the sides and header. A sill pan may be installed on the bottom edge to drain water from the window and prevent water damage.

The rest of the steps are the same as with standard and pocket inserts - the window must be leveled and shimmed and the new unit must then be sealed securely with a low-expanding foam. The interior and exterior edges will then be caulked for an airtight fit. Full frame window replacement involves lots of steps and carries a rather steep price tag. On the plus side, the window opening should now be dry and durable and provide the proper structural support for the next 40 plus years.
